What is it?

Nessy combines interactive resources (integrated record keeping, computer games, interactive worksheets, animated rules and phonemes) with 1000s of printable worksheets, card games and lesson plans. Designed for use by all mainstream students, particularly those with dyslexia and SEN.

Students are encouraged to mark their own work and take on more responsibility for their own learning. They quickly get involved in monitoring their own record-keeping and progress. Their efforts are rewarded with Nessy Nuggets, which can be spent at an interactive Fairground. The game based learning has proved extremely effective in addressing the needs of disaffected students motivating and building self-esteem.
Teachers are guided with lesson plans, teaching tips and strategies for learning. Nessy saves time with integrated planning, monitoring, record keeping and assessments. Schools using Nessy have found that teachers spend less time directing learning support assistants.

How are the games different from the previous Nessy?
7 games from the old version are not featured in the new Nessy. (Whack-a-Rat/Power Protectors/Doggy Din Dins/Squish Em'/ough Monster Sound Sorting/Chase the Chicken/Poke the Pig)
New games include: Jig Sore (synthesising phonemes), Chimp Fu (syllable division), Fish Food (1-2 player spelling), Piranha Snap (1-2 player reading), Hot Feet and the letters of fire/words of doom (synthesising phonemes/reading words), Nessy Challenge (reading and spelling assessments).

Single User CD is designed to be installed on standalone PCs or laptops. The CD-ROM must be in the drive to run. Select the site license version for use on networked machines.
Site license DVD is network compatible. There is no requirement for the disk to be in the drive. It can be installed on individual machines or onto the server with a desktop shortcut upon client machines. For automated installation it can be deployed across a network using Active Directory. A CD version is available upon request but would not include the Active Directory option. |
