MathBase6 contains 12 further programs on whole number calculation with an increased emphasis on multiplication and division, and how the four operations interact. Topics include:

  • Further basic skills in addition and subtraction
  • Smallest and largest
  • Mental multiplication and division
  • Integer division
  • Prime numbers and factors
  • Multiplication and division by 10, 100 & 1000
  • Order of operations and expanding brackets
 

1. Multiply and Divide

Multiplication or division by 1-digit numbers within a range up to 1000.

Example. Multiplication by 3:

 

 

2. Integer Division

Integer division of numbers giving
quotient and remainder.  Also the
reverse multiplications.

Example. Integer division by 5:
 

 

 

3. Plus or Minus

Multiples of 10 or 100. Adding or
subtracting small numbers 1 to 10.

Example. Multiples of 10 to 100,
adding or subtracting 1:

 

4. Three Numbers

Adding three single-digit numbers
or multiples of 10 or 100. Place value
to 1000. Products of 3 single-digit numbers.

Example. The sum of three numbers

5. Largest and Smallest

Smallest and largest up to 10,000.
Choosing the correct sign. True
and false statements.

Small differences (less than 10)
between two numbers in a range

Order or the four operations
with or without brackets.

MathBase6 may be downloaded for use at home and will remain operative to 31 Aug 2009. (Please note this software is only Microsoft Windows compatible).

To add MathBase6 to your computer

The simplest way to install the software is to select Run when prompted (rather than Save) and then click Run again. This will begin the install procedure - follow the on-screen instructions clicking: Next, Next, Next and Close. This will place a MathBase icon on the desktop MB6 Play.

To remove MathBase6 from your computer

Once the program has been installed, the easiest way to remove the software is the repeat the procedure. First click Download, Run and then Run again. Once the install begins it will give you the option to Remove MathBase6. Select Remove, then click Finish and then Close. This will remove MathBase6 from your computer.
